(A) MEMBERS RIGHTS: All members have the following rights:
To attend all general or extraordinary meetings.
Elect officers or be elected as officers.
To vote at a general meeting.
To receive patronage (dividend) refunds or a bonus when declared
To freely gather with other cooperatives members and call for a special general meeting.
The right to be informed on the affairs of society.
To freely make use of the services of society.
Subject to Cooperatives bylaws.
Any other rights not in conflict with the Act and regulations
The right to withdraw from society is subject to the board’s case review
(B) MEMBER OBLIGATIONS: All members are obligated to:
Buy shares to raise capital and start the Business.
Comply with the bylaws and any internal policies of the society.
Pay any financial contributions as per bylaws and the Act.
Comply with the decisions of the majority and prescribed decisions of the Committee.
Attend all general meetings where possible.
Promote Cooperative and encourage friends or family to join the organisation. Any other obligations not in conflict with the Act and the regulations.
TERMINATION OF MEMBERSHIP
Membership in the society shall be terminated by:
When a member is deceased.
Ceasing to hold one full share as required by these bylaws.
Permanent incapacitation of a member
Voluntary withdrawal after giving one month’s notice to the Secretary of his/her intention to withdraw from the cooperative provided that the member withdrawing from the society is not indebted to the society and that at the time of his withdrawal, the total liabilities of the society does not exceed the total assets.
EXPULSION OF MEMBERS
Any member who contravenes the Cooperatives bylaws or acts in any way that is damaging to the interest of the society may be dismissed by a vote of two-thirds of the members present at a general meeting. A party would be offered an opportunity to be heard and given ample notice to prepare.
When a member is convicted in a court of law for an offense like theft, forgery, fraud, embezzlement of funds, etc
